STRIKER
SYSTEMS INTRODUCES
NC FILE MANAGER
|
WHITE
HOUSE, Tennessee – June 17, 2002 – Striker Systems today
announced the introduction of SS-Dispatcher, a job file management module for
Fab Professional, Striker’s flagship sheet metal CAD/CAM software.
SS-Dispatcher
is a shared database designed to facilitate the transfer of manufacturing data
between the programming function and the CNC machine. SS-Dispatcher is
included as a standard feature of Fab Professional to provide the programmer
with real-time feedback on job status. It can also be loaded
independently on other computers to provide shop floor access and fulfill other
job monitoring needs. When a nest job is processed a Work Order entry is
automatically made into SS-Dispatcher for each NC Program generated. The
Work Order provides the status of the job (i.e., Pending, Released, Failed,
etc.) and access to necessary manufacturing data such as the NC program and
setup sheets. SS-Dispatcher allows released jobs to be transferred to a
production location or, if SS-Dispatcher is operating on the shop floor, NC
programs can be downloaded directly to the CNC machine tool.
SS-Dispatcher offers
numerous advantages over manual job management techniques. File names and
locations are transparent in the process thereby minimizing file management
considerations. And because all entries are real-time, each individual
with SS-Dispatcher is constantly aware of job status. This can alleviate
confusion in the flow of job files as revisions are introduced. And with
a built in DNC communication system, SS-Dispatcher can reduce cost by
eliminating the need for a separate DNC software.
