STRIKER
SYSTEMS RELEASES SOLID EDGE ANDSOLIDWORKS
INTERFACE FOR SHEET METAL MANUFACTURING
|
WHITE HOUSE, Tennessee – May 1,2000 –
StrikerSystems today announced the release of its latest FabCAD sheet metal
manufacturingsoftware with an interface to both Solid Edge (Unigraphics
Solutions, Inc. –Huntsville, AL) and SolidWorks (SolidWorks Corporation –
Concord, MA) mid-range solidmodeling software solutions.
The newly released FabCAD allows users with both SolidWorks or Solid Edge
modelingsoftware and Striker’s FabCAD manufacturing software to seamlessly
transport sheetmetal parts from the solid modeling environment to the FabCAD
manufacturing environment. Parts
that have already been unfolded inSolidWorks or Solid Edge are ported in the
flat state. Parts that have not
been unfolded can be ported with the flat part beingautomatically generated
during the transfer process. Within
the FabCAD manufacturing environment the parts can then be tooled fora variety
of CNC machine tools including turret punch presses, lasers,
plasmas,waterjets,etc. FabCAD also
offers an advancedtrue-shape, multi-part nesting system to optimize material
usage.
This seamless integration
of part geometry between SolidWorks or Solid Edge andStriker minimizes the risk
of translation error and the clean up time required withconventional DXF and
IGES file translations. Italso
reduces the number of data files to be managed in the design through
manufacturingprocess, thereby reducing the time required for part sharing.
